Job Title: Lead Security Engineer

Position: Lead Security Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

This role requires a strong background in application security development, network security, and automation as well as a nuanced security mindset when dealing with internal business operations.


We are looking for an experienced leader for our security engineering efforts, working side-by-side at a code and architecture level with each of our engineering teams to ensure security throughout our operations and technical systems, from infrastructure to the application.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience building network security systems
  • Familiarity with cryptographic protocols, implementations, vulnerabilities, performance characteristics, and tradeoffs
  • Hands on experience in security systems, open-source intrusion detection systems, malware footprinting, authentication workflows, log management.
  • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
  • Working knowledge of RDBMS, SQL, NoSQL, and familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem
  • Communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of security complexities during global enterprise rollouts
  • Experience with network security using SIEM technologies
  • Thorough understanding of the latest security principles, with working knowledge of attacker lifecycles and defender strategies
  • Ability to create system security defensive strategies
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities
  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols
  • Provide subject matter expertise on all matters related to network security defense
  • Ability to describe the OWASP TOP 10 security risks and describe solutions to mitigate it
  • Ability to identify insecure code patterns and, provide secure development coaching to developers
  • Familiarity with active security assessment tools (e.g. vulnerability scanners)
  • Technical depth with Windows, OS X, “Enterprise” Linux and BSD operating systems
  • 2 to 5 years of Object Oriented design skills and proficiency in either C++, Golang or Java

Additional Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in building large scale distributed applications
  • CISSP, similar certification or equivalent experience
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement
  • Ability to identify IT related business continuity risks and, the development of plans to mitigate these risks
